Our Recent Meeting and Chicana Power

We had a great regional meeting last Saturday at Cas’ house (thanks, Cas!)–there was good attendance, an interesting guest speaker and a lot of productive discussions. It was so nice to be able to catch up with everyone before the hustle and bustle of the APH conference in October. Meeting minutes will follow soon.

This is just a bit last minute, but I wanted to let you know that oral historian Maylei Blackwell will be signing her interesting new book ¡Chicana Power! Contested Histories of Feminism in the Chicano Movement in my neck of the woods tomorrow, Thursday, Sept. 22, from 6-7:30 pm at the Long Beach Historical Society (4260 Atlantic Ave., Long Beach 90807). The book is the culmination of 15 years of oral research. Light refreshments will be served, and the event is co-sponsored by the Southwest Oral History Association. More Info
